Pro-adrenomedullin: a new tool in the management of sepsis

Dr. David Andalusian. Intensive Care Service. Valladolid University Clinical Hospital. Valladolid

In this conference, Dr. David Andaluz, presents his experience with the use of a new biomarker, pro-adrenomedullin, as a prognostic factor in severe sepsis and septic shock. In his opinion, its predictive role remains unchanged both in the initial evaluation of the patient and in advanced stages of the disease and seems to be very useful in clinical decision-making to select those patients who would benefit most from early admission, treatment or discharge in ICU.
