Editorial: Sepsis in times of COVID-19

Dear friends,

In a situation as complicated and difficult as the one we are going through due to the pandemic produced by COVID-19 from the Foundation for the Progress of Education and Health, FPES we have wanted to contribute to this collective effort by providing training and dissemination of information science that can be useful.

This is a small contribution compared to the efforts, dedication and sacrifice, even at the cost of their lives and the risk to their families that health professionals are carrying out. Some professionals who have doubled their hours, assuming risks to their health with hardly any individual protection measures against this virus that will undoubtedly transform the social and health environment as it has been and as we knew it.

We have opened a monographic space to incorporate in those publications and scientific papers that can help to understand and treat these patients in the most effective way possible, often with previous pathologies, on other occasions without them but always vulnerable to the disease.

Sepsis-one was born as an initiative to bring objective and rigorous information and training to medical professionals that will help save lives in a complication as serious as sepsis. A complication, triggered by COVID-19 that unfortunately causes the loss of many of our fellow citizens. From here we want to thank the support of the Scientific Committee, the help of sponsors and the human and technical team that make possible the maintenance of this website and the training portal www.sepsis.academy.

To all of them our deepest thanks and our best wishes for both them and their loved ones.

Thank you and good luck.
